چکیده
Laser driven shockwaves from nanosecond pulsed lasers were evaluated for pressure magnitude and duration using photon Doppler velocimetry (PDV). Specific investigations performed on Ti-6Al-4V alloys 7085-T7651 aluminum with laser full-width half-max pulse lengths ranging 6 to 20 ns intensities of 2–10 GW/cm2. The rear surface velocity data obtained a heterodyne PDV system an automated signal processing algorithm are demonstrated utilized capture profiles. Peak shockwave pressures measured under bare water confinement reached approximately GPa. Shockwave loading durations observed correspond impulse times the order 2×–4× duration.

Thermographic laser Doppler velocimetry.
We propose a point measurement technique for simultaneous gas temperature and velocity measurement based on thermographic phosphor particles dispersed in the fluid. The flow velocity is determined from the frequency of light scattered by BaMgAl10O17:Eu2+ phosphor particles traversing the fringes like in conventional laser Doppler velocimetry. Flow temperatures are derived using a two-color rati...
متن کاملNew developments in photon Doppler velocimetry
Photon Doppler velocimetry (PDV) has made the transition among many experimental groups from being a new diagnostic to being routinely fielded as a means of obtaining velocity data in high-speed test applications. Indeed, research groups both within and outside of the shock physics community have taken note of PDV’s robust, high-performance measurement capabilities. As PDV serves as the primary...

A method is described for the measurement of basilar membrane (BM) vibration velocimeter (LDV). The instrumentation was coupled to a compound microscope which served to visualize reflective glass microbeads placed on the BM. The laser beam of the LDV was focused in the microscope object plane and positioned over the reflective bead. We show examples of frequency tuning curves and displacement i...

A miniaturized sensor head for the optical measurement of velocities of fluids based on laser Doppler velocimetry is demonstrated. Holographic optical elements mounted on a glass substrate are used for beam splitting and deflection. Volume holograms in dichromated gelatin exhibit good optical efficiency (75% transmission of a cascade of two holographic optical elements). With diffractive device...
